They are both similar in that they believe in their students and don't take any crap from them, they both seem really forward with their students and try to get them to engage in what they're learning.
Mr.Escalante would give a quiz every day on the math to make sure they're doing their work and come up with activities in class to help get their attention. Mr. MacFarland would have a quiz on reading every other day, have the students write three to four essays a month, and read a book every two to three weeks. He gave me a way to feel special by using my mind. And he provided a role model that wasn't shaped on physical prowess alone, and something inside me that I wasn't quite aware of responded to that"
MacFarland asked questions often and had the students do reports on poems while Escalante presented scenes and had the students do reports on calculus problems. each in their own helping the students gain a better knowledge to their learning.
